In honour of this national holiday here are a few facts

The Origins – No one too this date knows who created the Margarita, although there are many theories behind this, the origin is still unknown. Although its always nice to put a cocktail to the name, the fact we are still in the dark about this world-renowned cocktail almost adds a little bit more excitement to the drink.

Sweet Translation – Did you know that Margarita translated from Spanish is Daisy.

Lucky Rita – The Gunniess World record for the largest margarita belongs too Margaritaville in Las Vegas had a volume of 32,176 litres,

The drink included 8,081.66 litres Margaritaville Gold tequila, 8,638.99 litres Margaritaville Margarita mix, 2,759.68 litres Margaritaville triple sec and 12,870.4 litres Lemon-x margarita mix. It took approximately 300 hours and 60 people to prepare the drink. It was that large, it even had its own ceremony.

Where was our invite?

It’s Bloody Popular – It was the most ordered cocktail in 2008, racking up 185,000 ordered per hour in America. Now that’s a happy hour if we’ve ever heard of one.

So wherever you may be on the 22nd of February, make sure you grab yourself a margarita and celebrate this national holiday in style.
