This February Blind Tyger we're proud to host Ronnie Cox who came down to our beloved drinking den to talk all things whisky.
He led a discussion through the differing Cask Reserve’s and Vintages of Glenrothes Whisky, all paired to a musical accompaniment from the year the Whisky’s were casked.
For 25 pound each guest received a welcome drink and a selection 5 measurements paired with the below...
Glenrothes Select Reserve – Mumford and Sons – I Will Wait
Glenrothes Bourbon Cask Reserve – AC/DC – It’s A Long Way to the Top
Glenrothes Peated Cask Reserve – REM – Drive
Glenrothes 2001 Vintage – Pulp – Sunrise
Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve – Bear McCreary – Skye Boat Song
Ronnie Cox has been involved with Scotch Whisky for over 40 Years and descends from seven generations of whisky distillers, albeit two were illegal, which can be traced back to the late 18th Century. He has travelled Latin America & Europe selling Wines & Whisky’s, had a gun pointed to his head – twice, been forced to leave countries for upsetting a distributor from Paraguay and is a Master of the Quaich. He began working for Berry Bro’s & Rudd in 1989, and in 2010 began representing the newly acquired Glenrothes brand.

Using his background of wines, Cox established a Vintage portfolio instead of the more popular Age Statement’s used by other Whisky at that time. He created an atmospheric event, hosted at Blind Tyger, where he took each guest on a journey through The Glenrothes Whisky and pairing them with a selection of music from the years they were casked. Make sure to keep an eye out for our upcoming events in the drinking den and don't miss out on these exclusive evenings.
